as i think about in-home nursing care for my mother, how do i get comfortable that appropriate background checks are done on the nurses? when my father was being taken care of, the quality of the nurses varied widely. thx

Quality of care and background checks are very different. The quality is something I have found this web site to be a good resource for as one looks at the data they have on specific agencies. Another good guide is word of mouth info. Post a question about a specific agency and see if others are familiar for it.
As for background checks, each agency is a little different in their approach to this. You can always look up individual licensed practitioners ( MDs RNs LPNs RT OT etc...)on their respective states board web site.

You have to be registered to ask a question.
